《呼啸》大致情节，chapter by chapter:
　　Chapter 1
　　Lockwood meets Heathcliff and gets first look at Wuthering Heights.
　　Chapter 2
　　Lockwood meets Hareton and Cathy.
　　Chapter 3
　　Lockwood has frightening dreams and Heathcliff reacts violently to them.
　　The principle purpose of the first three chapters is to introduce the readers to conditions at Wuthering Heights and to some of the major characters. The emphasis is on unfriendliness and a certain lack of civilized politeness.

Poets, according to the circumstances of the age and nation in which they appeared, were called, in the earlier epochs of the world, legislators or prophets: a poet essentially compromises and unites both these characters. For he not only beholds intensely the present as it is, and discovers those laws according to which present things ought to be ordered, but he beholds future in the present, and his thoughts are the germs of the flower and the fruit of latest time. Not that I assert poets to be prophets in the gross sense of the world, or that they can foretell the form as surely as they foreknow the spirit of events; such is the pretense of superstition, which would make poetry an attribute of prophecy, rather than prophecy an attribute of poetry. A poet participates in the eternal, the infinite, and the one; as far as relates to his conceptions, time and place and number are not. The grammatical forms which express the modes of time, and the difference of persons, and the distinction of place, are convertible with respect to the highest poetry without injuring it as poetry; and the choruses of Aeschylus, and the book of Job, and Dante’s Paradise, would afford, more than any other writings, examples of this fact, if the limits of this essay did not forbid citation.

去年的这个时候，在读《呼啸》。这之前知道这本书，就如同知道《荆棘鸟》一样，知道其大概情节，但从未读过原著。
　　寒风呼啸，尤其在夜里。
　　读。
　　还有这本书，其实是偶然。也是必然。原以为把它们都卖了废纸。

通讯手段的发达使得人们的联系与沟通极为方便，哪怕远隔万里。
　　好友回他的母国，经商去了。他并没有经商的经历，再加上不再年轻的年纪。他女友还在V城，距离无疑对爱情也是个考验。我能想到他的压力，而现在我能做的只是给他一些鼓励。
　　佳节。总是会思念亲人，想起朋友。他手机上也装了微信，好一顿聊。
　　说这些，放在这个帖子里。我还是有强调语言的意思。朋友对汉语一窍不通，我曾教过他说点汉语，可当他把“你们”记成“you 们”的时候，我放弃了。汉语对于老外来说太难了。我们之间沟通语言就是英语。如果没有对英语的熟稔，我相信，友情会大打折扣。

A good introduction to a work of fiction is about two things. It should arouse the reader’s interest and compel him to read on. And it should establish the issues with which the work is going to deal and involve the reader in the particular imaginary world he is entering. The first three chapters fulfill the requirements admirably.

Chapter 4
　　Nelly begins her narration. Mr. Earnshaw brings heathcliff to Wuthering Heights.
　　Chapter 5
　　Mr. Earshaw dies.
　　Chapter 6
　　Hindley marries Frances and begins degrading Heathcliff. Catherine and Heathcliff see Thrushcross Grange and the Lintons for first time.
　　Chapter 7
　　Catherine “civilized” by the Lintons. The Christmas party at Wuthering Heights.
　　Chapter 8
　　Hareton born. Frances dies. Hindley begins to degenerate. Catherine chooses Edgar Linton over Heathcliff.
　　Chapter 9
　　Heathcliff “saves” Hareton. Catherine reveals her love for Heathcliff, but marries Edgar. Heathcliff runs off.

chapter 10
　　Heathcliff returns and begins visiting Catherine regularly. Isabella falls in love with Heathcliff.
　　Heathcliff returns after a three-years' absence. He is outwardly a changed man. he went away an uncivilized ruffian boy and returns a well-spoken, well-dressed, and apparently cultivated man. but, as Nelly notes, inwardly (internally) he is the same, still fierce, bitter and brutally strong.

Chapter 11
　　Heathcliff courts Isabella. Edgar confronts Heathcliff and attempts to eject him from the Grange. Catherine falls ill.
　　Chapter 12
　　Catherine delirious. Heathcliff elopes with Isabella.
　　Chapter 13
　　Catherine dying. Heathcliff and Isabella return to the Heights. Hindley a broken man.
　　Chapter 14
　　Heathcliff brutal to Isabella. Heathcliff persuades Nelly to arrange meeting with Catherine for him.
　　Chapter 15
　　Heathcliff and Catherine meet for first time.
　　Chapter 16
　　Cathy born. Catherine dies. Heathcliff mad with grief.

　　Isabella escapes from the Heights. Linton born. Hindley dies. Heathcliff in possession of Wuthering Heights.
　　Chapter 18
　　Cathy goes to Wuthering Heights, meets Hareton.
　　Chapter 19
　　Isabella dies. Linton is brought to the Grange.
　　Chapter 20
　　Linton taken to Wuthering Heights.

　　Cathy and Nelly meet Heathcliff and go to the Heights. Cathy secretly corresponds with Linton until Nelly discovers and puts a stop to it.

　　Cathy meets Heathcliff outside of wall. Edgar ill.

　　Nelly and Cathy visit Linton. Nelly falls ill.
　　Chapter 24
　　Cathy continues to visit Linton on her own. Cathy forbidden to return to Wuthering Heights.

　　Edgar dying. Edgar gives permission for Cathy to meet Linton on the moors.
　　Chapter 26
　　Cathy and Nelly meet Linton. Linton dying.
　　Chapter 27
　　Cathy and Nelly are lured to Wuthering Heights and held captive there.
　　Chapter 28
　　Cathy marries Linton. Cathy escapes from Wuthering Heights. Edgar dies.
　　Chapter 29
　　Heathcliff tells Nelly about disinterring Catherine's body. Heathcliff takes Cathy to live at Wuthering Heights.
　　Chapter 30
　　Linton dies. Cathy embittered.
　　Chapter 31
　　Lockwood goes to see Heathcliff at the Heights, then leaves for London.
