1、how long与when
两者都是对时间状语提问，how long译为“多久，多长时间”，是对一段时间提问；
when是“什么时候”，是具体的时间状语的提问，不能用于现在完成时。

2、since与for
for+ 一段时间，构成介词短语，表“时间段”，常用于现在完成时。表示过去已经开始，持续到现在的动作或状态。

since连词，引导时间状语从句，意为“自从以来”，从句常用一般过去时，主句用完成时，有时也可用一般现在时。
