2. 使用名词属格时，必须注意的地方一般来说，’s属格多用于有生命的东西，of属格多用于无生命的东西，但实际上，两种结构既有区别之处，又有相通之处。（3）必须用’s属格的情况
traffic sign交通标志
例句：You can only see the tops of some of the traffic signs.
你只能看到交通标志的顶部。
结构分析：You是主语，can only see是谓语，the tops of some of the traffic signs是宾语（of some of the traffic sign是后置定语）。
3.’s属格中的省略
下列情况可以将’s属格中被修饰的名词省略：
(1)被修饰的名词在前面的句子中已提到过。例如：
This notebook is not mine, nor John’s, nor Peter’s.
这本笔记本不是我的，也不是约翰的，也不是彼得的。（省略notebook）
结构分析：This notebook是主语，is是系动词，not mine, nor John’s, nor Peter’s是三个并列的表语。
The house I bought the other day is larger than my neighbour’s.
我前几天买的那幢房子比邻居的那幢大。（省略house）
结构分析：The house是主语，I bought the other day是定语从句，is是系动词，larger是表语，than my neighbour’s是比较状语。
