就像之前提到过的 armed to the teeth 这个习语，它的本意是没错的，也可以用在实际的写作中，但是并不是在所有的上下文中都翻译成”武装到牙齿“，它还有一个寓意“全面武装，准备充分”，因为你总不能说每个做好充分准备的人都是武装到牙齿的人吧，例如：

Since he had decided to argue his own case, he was armed to the teeth to prove his innocence in front of the court.既然他决定为自己的案子辩护，那么在法庭面前，他准备充分来证明自己是清白的。
还有 break the mould 也类似，它的字面意思是“打破模具”，这个意思没毛病，但是要看具体的上下文，它还有比喻意义“打破常规，打破传统”，寓意：
to do something different from what is expected做一些与预期不同的事情
to break a repeating pattern by doing something different通过做一些不同的事情来打破重复的模式
