adopted 和 adoptive 词根都是 adopt，它的其中一个意思为“领养”，那么 adopted 和 adoptive 作形容词时有什么区别呢？

一、adopted 作形容词
1、意为“领养的，收养的”，它用来表示某人被领养了，例如：
They've got two adopted children and one of their own.他们有两个领养的孩子和一个他们自己的孩子。
They had two adopted children already.他们已经领养了两个孩子。
As his adopted brothers in the war against evil, the two of them were his equals.作为他在反邪恶战争中收养的兄弟，他们两人和他平等的。
2、意为“移居的”，通常指国家，例如：
Spain is my adopted country. 西班牙是我移居的国家。

二、adoptive 作形容词

1、意为“收养的，有收养关系的”，它用来表示某人领养了某人，例如：
Her adoptive parents were farmers.她的养父母是农民。
My adoptive parents truly loved me with all their heart.我的养父母真心爱我。
It must be quite a story, since my adoptive parents refuse to admit that I was adopted.这一定是个故事，因为我的养父母拒绝承认我是被领养的。
2、意为“移居的”，通常指国家，例如：
England is his adoptive country.英国是他移居的国家。

三、两者的区别
adopted 是指某人被领养了，而 adoptive 刚好反过来，是某人领养了某人，在表示移居的国家时，它们通常可以互换，但是 adopted 更常用。
为了便于记忆，记住以下这两句就可以了：
Mr Smith says, "Sarah is my adopted daughter."史密斯先生说：“莎拉是我的养女。”
Sarah says, "He is my adoptive father.";莎拉说：“他是我的养父。”
