这是一座能够纵观古代御窑发展的博物馆，一个世界各国爱好中华陶瓷文化、收藏爱好者必到的网红博物馆。御窑博物馆是景德镇市陶瓷考古研究所40多年来，在御窑保护、考古发掘、文物研究方面取得成果的集大成之体现，是当代故宫、景德镇、各高校顶级陶瓷专家及全国陶瓷学者留下的宝贵财富。景德镇的世界瓷都、千年瓷都之名，其实无须劳烦相关部委授予“瓷都”衔称，无须世界遗产保护组织的加冕，因为她是人们心目中的无冕之王。
2016年2月，专业考古团队进驻御窑遗址，历经五个寒暑，景德镇御窑博物馆终于在2021年5月18日“国际博物馆日”正式开馆。这座御窑博物馆设计理念非常现代，展览的策划布置也独具风格。每个展柜都在讲说一个故事，每个故事都配有一个短视频介绍，可扫描二维码，随时翻看。博物馆有专业的讲解老师，让人受益匪浅。
